Shalya means that which creats pain or agony to the body or mind and Shalyatantra is the branch which deals with the technique by which this cause (Shalya) is removed.

Shalyatantra Department can divided into 3 major areas.

1) Surgery: Treatments which requires Surgical & Parasurgical Procedures

2) Orthopaedics

3) Marmachikitsa: The branch concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal systems. (muscles, bones & joints)

Surgical Aspect mainly focus on

— Anorectal Cases:-Piles, Fistula, Fissure, Polyp Rectal prolapse etc.

— Various non healing ulcer:– Diabetic ulcer venous ulcer etc

— Arterio Venous disorders like:-Varicose vein, T.A.O etc

Other Conditions Like:-Inflammatory conditions of Skin & Soft tissues, abscess, warts etc.

Orthopedic Aspect mainly focus on

– Fractures and Dislocations

–Diseases of spine:– Cervical Spondylosis, Lumbar spondylosis etc

— Degenerative diseases of joints;-O.A knee, etc

— Other Conditions like:-Tennis elbow, CTS, Calcaneal spur, etc

Major Therapeutic Procedures include:

— Kshara sutra & Kshara Application

— Raktha mokshana (blood letting), Jaloukavacharnna (Leech Therapy), Agnikarma (Therapeutic cauterization), Wound healing technique, Bandage, etc.
